Forty Farms at Theatre by the Lake
The award-winning Forty Farms photography exhibition will be on display at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick this autumn, running from 5 August until 9 November 2026.
The exhibition sits alongside the theatre’s world-premiere production of The Farmer’s Wife, which runs from 18 September to 10 October 2026, creating a powerful pairing of real farming stories on the walls and a new farming
story on the stage.
About the Exhibition Forty Farms documents the lives of forty farming families across Cumbria and the Lake District, their work, their landscapes, their challenges and their humour. It includes portraits and stories from
farmers across the region, including Helen Rebanks, whose bestselling memoir inspired the play
