Under the guidance of Amy Bateman,-British Life Photographer of the Year, author and photographer of Forty Farms, and Rich Jones -a Cumbria based Professional Photographer specialising in Landscapes.
The day will consist of a morning starting at 9.30am at Yew Tree Farm near Coniston and the afternoon spent pottering around the nearby Yew Tree Tarn and woodland, finishing around about 4pm.

Morning

With its whitewashed façade, oak-beamed spinning gallery, Herdwicks in the yard and a dramatic crown of fells, Yew Tree Farm is not only the quintessential Lake District farm, it is also one of the most recognised. Intrinsically linked with Beatrix Potter – author, artist, stockwoman – who gifted it to the National Trust in 1943 as part of her 4,000-acre estate, the farm comprises dry-stone-walled meadows under the watchful gaze of Wetherlam, as well as the tourist honeypots of Holme Fell and Tarn Hows. It has been tenanted by Jon Watson and Jo McGrath for nearly two decades. We are delighted to be collaborating with them to offer you a morning at the farm photographing the farm and the iconic Herdwicks that live here.

We will spend a morning watching Herdwicks being shepherded, including a portrait session with the opportunity to get close up with these icons, and a chance to see a working farm in a classic location within the Lake District National Park. We will also be able to photograph other farm animals, traditional farm buildings, and real life action on a lakeland farm.

The farm has multiple opportunities for nature, macro and landscape photography with extensive bird life and we will endeavour to make the day suit the requirements of the group.

Hot beverages will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch.

Afternoon

The afternoon will be spent mooching around nearby Yew Tree tarn, a very picturesque Lake District tarn and has beautiful woodland surrounding it. This is a low level Photography day.
The tarn has a flat circular walk around it. It is known for a wide range of wildlife. It is surrounded by deciduous trees, great for practicing compositions in the woodland.

We love the rain here in Cumbria; it fills the lakes and makes the grass grow, so we won’t be put off by adverse conditions. The day is designed not to be hampered by bad weather so please bring waterproofs and you will definitely need your wellies for the farm.
